The MYOB Business Monitor found that three in 10 businesses with a website increased revenue in the past year, compared with 23 per cent without a website.
MYOB chief executive officer Tim Reed said the results of the survey of 1,000 small and medium businesses were a surprise, given the growing trend for people to shop online.
A website presence is a relatively low-cost way for small business to punch above its weight but businesses were failing to tap into the opportunities, he said.
